Exercise is my outlet for my stress. Angry about something? Vent your frustrations during your workout!
The deal with healthy eating for me is that there are so many healthy foods that are just so yummy! Hello strawberries and almond butter anyone? That’s what I’m talking about.

Pingback by One Frugal Foodie » Foodie Contest and Giveaway Mania! February 28, 2009 @ 4:02 amI added it to the giveaway post on my blog – http://www.onefrugalfoodie.com/ – and it will be up on GoDairyFree.org on Sunday!
Let’s see, really, I just love the energy exercising gives me. I am exhausted without it.
Comment by Alisa - Frugal Foodie February 28, 2009 @ 4:04 amI do try to get some walking in…. but with all the snow it’s impossible to walk far. Sometimes I just walk up and down the hallway and around the kitchen…..and back into the living room. Back and forth.
Comment by karin February 28, 2009 @ 5:10 amWhat motivates me is the knowledge that short term pleasure will soon give way to discomfort!
Comment by Jason February 28, 2009 @ 3:07 pmwhat motivates me to exercise
is for sure the awesome feeling
i get after. god bless endorphins.
!!!
Comment by missbee. February 28, 2009 @ 3:15 pmMotavation? The feeling you get afterwards. I find no matter how crappy you feel going in, you always feel better than you did berfore, after your work out.
Comment by Crystal February 28, 2009 @ 4:45 pmPlus, you get to see some real characters at the gym some times, ie: the guys that stand infront for the mirroirs, flexing, to see if that set of 3 bicep curls they did with a 120lb wieght made their arm bigger.
I exercise because it keeps me on track with all aspects of my life…I manage stress and my body image problems, stay healthy and just feel better by sweating!
Comment by stephanie p February 28, 2009 @ 6:02 pmMy motivation these days: 5,000 people all over the world!

Comment by leslie February 28, 2009 @ 7:22 pmI’m motivated to exercise because it makes me sleep better and feel better in general. I’m motivated to eat right because of a dislike of grocery stores… what we can grow or get at the farmers’ market is pretty healthy.
Comment by ikkinlala February 28, 2009 @ 7:47 pmim motivated after reading blogs and seeing if i dont then i am a lazy bum compared to u guys
Comment by Lora February 28, 2009 @ 8:04 pmI just linked back to this giveaway in m last post! thanks for such a great giveaway!
I keep myself motivated by going back and thinking about my health and fitness goals, not only how it helps me loose weight, but also how it helps my mental health and overall physical health. Of course, I love reading food and exercise blogs because they inspire me to get out there and work-out =)
Comment by Sweet and Fit February 28, 2009 @ 8:20 pmI’m about to start pastry school so I know if I don’t balance that out with healthy living I won’t have a long life!
Comment by Becca A February 28, 2009 @ 8:22 pmNo blog for me to mention the contest on, but as far as a ‘motivation’ took, I always have to struggle through the first 20 minutes of my workouts… if I can make it through those, the next 15-40 minutes always feel like a breeze. I don’t know if that’s normal or not, but it especially applies with runs… miles 1 and 2 all I can think about is how much I hate running, and then mile 3 is like ‘Oh yeah, this really isn’t bad at all’.
So whenever I’m struggling in those first 20 minutes I just repeat to myself how much I will enjoy the time that follows, and of course the great feeling of being done afterwards!
Comment by Kristie Lynn February 28, 2009 @ 9:00 pmWhat motivates me? Hmm, I would say just feeling so great afterwards. My mind is clear, my stress level goes way down, and I feel so strong.
Comment by Shelby February 28, 2009 @ 9:18 pmI get motivated by REGULARITY!! knowing that I can go easier, more frequently, and care-free always makes me more excited for the gym. PLUS, I know that going to you-know-where, my tummy is SO MUCH FLATTER! muaaahahhahah
Comment by luckytastebuds February 28, 2009 @ 9:31 pmIt sounds hokey, but I am honestly motivitated by how it makes me feel afterward. Just this am I didn’t want to exercise, but knew I’d feel better, so I went, and stayed twice as long as I had planned! No blog myself, but I love your’s!
Comment by katie February 28, 2009 @ 10:29 pmAnd I’m linking to this post….now
Comment by Becca A February 28, 2009 @ 11:02 pmMy motivation is how I feel when I’m eating right and exercising – great! I’m also pretty schedule-oriented, so if I set up a schedule for myself, I’m pretty good at sticking to it.
Comment by Katie February 28, 2009 @ 11:41 pmWhat motivates me is knowing that for every year I educate myself, I am adding years on my life…for every run, I am toning my body…for every example I set, I am showing someone how to better themselves in so many natural, healthy ways!
Comment by Blythe February 28, 2009 @ 11:48 pmI’d love to try those bars! Managing my diabetes keeps me motivated – I saw my dad not take care of his and he suffered for it.

Comment by Yasmin March 1, 2009 @ 1:44 amJust the motivation of (as corny as this sounds) of wanting to really live life to the fullest. (Plus that endorphin rush when exercising can’t hurt!)
Comment by JL March 1, 2009 @ 1:47 amwhat motivates me for having a healthy life style? just because it feels great physically and mentally. When you exercise, you feel great, you get fit and your body is stronger. When you eat healthy, your body will regard you with more energy.
Comment by coco March 1, 2009 @ 2:09 amWhat motivates me is keeping off the 100 pounds I lost!
Comment by Lori March 1, 2009 @ 2:27 amWould love to be entered! I don’t have a blog myself, but I love reading these blogs because they help me stay motivated. Also, I love the feeling I get from exercising regularly — it truly is a natural high.
Comment by melissa March 1, 2009 @ 2:28 amThe endorphin high after I exercise is always a plus but I think the main motivator for me is exercising with my friends. Running together with a group of my buddies, especially when it’s for a great cause, is something I always enjoy. I would love to be entered in this contest, I think it’s a neat idea.
Comment by Jery March 1, 2009 @ 2:39 amI stay motivated by the strength it gives me and the health.
Comment by Tea March 1, 2009 @ 2:42 amIt also relieves much stress.

Comment by Shelby March 1, 2009 @ 2:59 amI am motivated by just being healthy in general and the way exercising makes me feel!
Comment by Meg March 1, 2009 @ 3:09 amI am motivated to work out because of how great I feel afterwords- I feel saner, I sleep better, and obviously I’ve done something good for my body.
I eat healthily because my philosophy is that there is delicious food that is terrible for you and there is delicious food that’s great for you– so why not eat the stuff that’s great for you most of the time?
Comment by Lele March 1, 2009 @ 3:11 amWhat keeps my motivation up is how I feel when I’m practicing healthy habits! I love how much more LOVE you see and feel when you’re healthy.
Just linked back over in my post tonight! Thanks for doing an awesome giveaway!
Comment by Lindsey (Mrs. LC) March 1, 2009 @ 3:14 amI love to exercise, and I feel so much better when I am active. I also enjoy the sense of accomplishment I feel when I add another mile to my run or increase the difficulty of my strength training routine. I’m currently looking for a half marathon to motivate me even more to run. I find that setting a specific goal is always effective.
Comment by Ariel March 1, 2009 @ 3:27 amThe great feeling I get when I eat right and exercise keeps me motivated to continue to do so. I love those endorphins!!!
I posted about this giveaway here: http://thesummertreecafe.blogspot.com/2009/02/its-vegan-part-1.html.
Thank you so much for hosting this giveaway
Comment by Katie March 1, 2009 @ 3:40 ammy vacation to florida definatly keeps me motivated…but when I dont have a vacation in sight it’s the feeling of satisfaction I get after exercising that keeps me going
Comment by Michelle C. March 1, 2009 @ 3:45 amWhat motivates me is the feeling I get when I exercise. I love running because it helps me clear my mind, relax, and feel strong. It’s one of the things in life that makes me happy. Since I’m a cross country and track athlete, I am motivated to work out in order to get stronger, better, and healthier.
When I eat right, I feel good knowing that I am taking care of my body.
One tip I have is to just get going. Some days, I won’t feel like going for a run, but then I’ll have my workout clothes on and think, “I might as well do 3 miles” and then 3 miles ends up being 5.
Thanks for hosting the giveaway! I posted about it on my blog: http://catchingbananas.blogspot.com
Comment by Shirley March 1, 2009 @ 3:49 amThe exercise-high that I get when I exercise is what motivates me!!
Comment by Rika March 1, 2009 @ 3:50 amI’m not flexible at all, so the stretched out feeling after exercising motivates me and keeps my back from getting sore.
Comment by Rachel H. March 1, 2009 @ 3:56 amI stay motivated to exercise by reminding myself of all the great food I can eat if I do go to the gym
Comment by Amanda March 1, 2009 @ 4:11 amWhat motivates me to exercise is the healthy feeling I have afterward. Also have some medical issues that with exercise pain is lessened.
Comment by Sarah March 1, 2009 @ 4:20 amFeeling amazing and proud of the body I worked hard to get :-]
Comment by peanutbutterpassion March 1, 2009 @ 4:23 amThe wonderful feeling of adrenaline and endorphins motivates me to push through pain!
Comment by lordgracie March 1, 2009 @ 4:52 amWhat motivates me? Knowing that I’ve already stared death in the face, and I NEVER want to be back there again! Life is about everything in moderation, and the more I practice this idea of moderation, the more I am able to enjoy my life for everything it’s worth! Happiness comes from the inside out!
Those bars look delectable! I’m a huge bar person

Comment by lauren March 1, 2009 @ 4:03 pmsorry i forgot to put a link to my blog in the comment above!
What motivates me to eat right and exercise is the fact that exercise and healthy eating has already made my life so much better. I am anemic and any exercise, even just going on a 10 minute walk, helps get my blood circulation going so i guess the way exercising makes me feel motivates me!
Comment by Rina March 1, 2009 @ 4:17 pmHaving that extra boost of energy is what motivated me to get out and excerise and eat right!
Yay for the giveaway! I linked to you on my site!
Comment by Emily March 1, 2009 @ 4:22 pmWhat keeps me motivated is to be a healthy person
Comment by alexmp911 March 1, 2009 @ 4:30 pmI’ve always been motivated to exercise and eat well, because it simply makes me feel good and strong – and younger! However, last year, I ended up having two abdominal surgeries. Both times, I made it out of the hospital a week earlier than expected. The doctor (and myself) attributed that to my very health-conscious way of life. I had him in awe both times – he admired my determination. So, since you never know what life is going to throw your way, what better motivation is there to stay as healthy as you possibly can!?! Diet and exercise is the only way to get there. That’s all I need to think about at 5:15am every morning when I get on the treadmill. Have a great day!
Comment by Nancy March 1, 2009 @ 4:40 pmi love eatting healthy foods and excercise! it gives me a boost in the positive direction =)
Comment by Gina March 1, 2009 @ 5:01 pmI exercise for energy (and its opposite… it helps me sleep!) and because I feel so much better about myself when I’m MOVING and eating well.
Comment by Katie March 1, 2009 @ 5:04 pmI exercise to get my blood flowing and relieve tension by stretching out my muscles. I also love sweating out all my tension – its so refreshing! Those bars look so delicious – they would be a great post-workout snack! Yumm.
Comment by Michelle Hisae March 1, 2009 @ 5:09 pmi feel at my best when i’m running, at the gym, on a bike, or out for a walk… every time i exercise it’s an affirmation of how amazing our bodies really are. food wise, i am sensitive to a lot of foods and pay the price if i don’t eat well! plus, i love feeling like i’m treating my body well after all it does for me.
Comment by allie March 1, 2009 @ 5:16 pmI stay motivated by thinking about how much better i feel by working out. It’s easy to be motivated by vanity, which I definitely am, but more importantly I know I just feel off if I don’t work out for too long. It’s no fun to feel off! hahah thanks for the great giveaway:)
Comment by Cate March 1, 2009 @ 5:34 pmI am motivated because simply put, I feel AWFUL when I don’t. If I eat poorly and don’t exercise I feel sluggish, run down, and just plain icky. I also have a few food allergies so that plays a part in my reasons for eating healthy. I can’t eat packaged foods or over processed stuff. I am forced to eat healthy but that is a-ok by me. I would rather have it that way and feel good than be able to eat all that other stuff and feel bad.
Comment by Megan March 1, 2009 @ 5:56 pmI am motivated to eat well and exercise because of the way it makes me feel. I love running because it’s a huge stress reliever and because I love that runners high after a good run. If I’m lacking motivation I just remind myself of how I’ll feel after and for the rest of the day- I don’t think I’ve ever regretted going for a run but I have certainly regretted not.
Comment by amelia March 1, 2009 @ 6:04 pmI don’t have any special tricks… I just know that I feel so much better and i’m happier! Short term because of endorphins, but also longer term b/c I’m happier with how I look and comfortable in my own skin, and I’m in shape and not out of breath, etc!
Comment by nadia March 1, 2009 @ 7:37 pmWhat motivates me is the feeling I get after a run- sometimes I put off going to the gym all day, until 8pm when I finally drag myself out of my house- and when I leave I feel 100x better. Now I just have to work on being a morning exerciser- so I can feel great all day!
Comment by Siobhan March 1, 2009 @ 7:53 pmHonestly, usually seeing a few wrinkly marks under your butt on teh back of my legs, is just about enough for me to hit the gym, but anytime, I feel stressed, or especially when I dont feel stressed, more like acomplished and have nothing left to do, ie:finished homework, cleaned, or met soemone new, friend/really good looking guy, gives me energy to hit the gym also.
Hope these silly ideas help anyone, or atleast give a few readers some laughs
Comment by Jacquelyn March 1, 2009 @ 8:15 pmI workout to help manage my back pain from a car accident. When I manage to workout a few times a week, I feel great! But when I only get in 1-2 workouts, I know that I will pay for it eventually and my back would start aching. And if I do not get back on track the following week, I know that I will really start to hurt.
Comment by Small Steps to Health March 1, 2009 @ 8:30 pmIt helps me to stay motivated by having indulgent/not-that-healthy treats or nights at least once a week. For example, just knowing that I am going to want to go out for drinks on Friday and/or Saturday helps me eat well and exercise as much as possible during the week so that I can feel great and confident when I go out..and to make it possible for me to indulge without gaining weight.
Comment by LT March 1, 2009 @ 8:38 pmWhat motivates me is the way I feel when I eat well and exercise. I know as soon as I eat alot of crappy food that I feel crappy, and I hate that feeling. I also really look at it as a preventative measure for my own health. If simply eating good food and getting out and moving my body will help ward off various diseases, why wouldn’t I do that? What an easy way to avoid medical issues in the future.
Comment by Marianne March 1, 2009 @ 8:49 pm[...] It tastes good, I just wish I could eat it without blending all the fruit in. I so want to add nuts or something crunchy to it as well! Comment by seeleelive March 2, 2009 @ 1:40 am1. My motivation for eating healthy is to live a nourishing now and later. I couldn’t dream of being bogged down by poor food choice-related diseases! Ive lost too many relatives in my life to liver failure and heart disease. And I know that they wouldve wanted me to live the longest, most beautiful life. So I’m partly doing this for them and for me
Plus I dont have many opportunities to exercise, therefore I must compensate with eating the best I can.

Pingback by Back after an interesting few days… « With Me In Mind March 2, 2009 @ 8:39 amHey– I just linked back to your post from my blog (http://withmeinmind.wordpress.com)– thanks for the opportunity
I keep myself motivated by thinking about all of the health problems in my family, and how so many of them could have been avoided by living a healthy lifestyle. I still struggle sometimes, but it can really work
Comment by Tal March 2, 2009 @ 8:41 amWhat keeps me on track – knowing I will feel good after … and also, leaving my gym bag IN the gym locker before I head off for school …. that way I have to come back n retrive it
Comment by Cecilia March 2, 2009 @ 11:50 ammy motivation is that knowing that the healthier and stronger i am from eating well and doing strength training, the faster i will be able to run!
also, looking awesome helps too
Comment by haya March 2, 2009 @ 12:44 pmI am motivated by the knowledge that, at 35, I am in the best physical and mental shape of my life!

Pingback by Day 1: Operation A.M. « strawberry shortstuff March 2, 2009 @ 4:35 pmi am constantly motivated by how much better i feel–physically, emotionally, mentally. remaining active and eating well are two habits i never want to be without because i have seen how much they have improved my quality of life! for example, i never get sick any more. i improved my eating habits and started exercising regularly about a year and a half ago, and i haven’t been sick since! i used to get a cold of some sort ever couple months at least.
Comment by Ellen March 2, 2009 @ 4:43 pmI like try to remind myself of how great i feel after working out.
Comment by kristin point March 2, 2009 @ 5:51 pmHey! I love your site! I am motivated to eat right and exercise by the daily bombarding of health messages I read. It helps knowing that I am doing the right thing to stay healthy and if I still manage to get sick in the future, I am done all that I could do. I love reading about healthy new recipes to incorporate into my diet.
Comment by Dana Armstrong March 2, 2009 @ 7:34 pmChecking out a web site and healthy food sites almost daily, help keep me motivated!
Comment by Chris March 2, 2009 @ 7:36 pmWhat keeps me motivated to be healthy is the fact that I feel horrible when I’m not. If I make poor health choices I’m tired, depressed and all I want to do is sleep. I know it sounds boring, but only when I started to be healthy did I realize that a person can actually stay interested and awake for those 4 hour University classes.
Comment by Barbara March 2, 2009 @ 7:37 pmI’m motivated by people thinking I’m younger than I actually am…I must be doing something right if I look 24 yet almost 30.
Comment by Amanda March 2, 2009 @ 7:37 pmMy body looks and feels better than it ever has. Working out makes me feel good, and cooking with new (healthy) ingredients has really made my kitchen fun!
Comment by Alison March 2, 2009 @ 7:41 pmI’m most motivated when I visualize exactly what I want my body to look like or what things I want to be able to do down the line that I can’t do now due to my weight or stamina/endurance

Comment by M March 2, 2009 @ 7:45 pmEvery time I work out, I battle with myself, but I keep on doing it because I feel great once I’m finished. Eating healthy is easier for me because I’ve started to have fun trying to find healthy alternatives to eat!
Comment by Kelsi March 2, 2009 @ 7:47 pmthe crazy fact that i went from the last kid picked in gym class to a real live athlete keeps me motivated! who would have thought!
Comment by jen March 2, 2009 @ 7:48 pmWhat keep me motivates is my hubby, he lost his job in January and it been very hard and stressful on him, so when I get home from work I motivate him to go to the gym together to release happy endorphins in this tuff times.
Comment by Tatiana March 2, 2009 @ 7:49 pmMy motivation is starting a family in a few years. I want to be as healthy as possible to carry children and keep up with them. I’ve also shifted a focus to realizing that I need to put good stuff in my body and try not to eat a lot of crap. The idea that something has been concocted somewhere in a factory and is loaded with a ton of artificial junk is plenty of motivation to eat fresh, healthy foods!
Comment by Hollie March 2, 2009 @ 7:53 pmI don’t have a blog, but I want to enter!
Comment by Leah March 2, 2009 @ 7:55 pmSeeing my grandparents have heart disease has motivated me to stay (get) in shape now and hopefully avoid health problems in the future!

Comment by Michelle March 2, 2009 @ 7:56 pmoooh yum, i’d love to try these bars!! the idea of eating right OFTEN is what motivates me to exercise, haha

Comment by Sarah March 2, 2009 @ 8:03 pmWeight loss is my main motivator right now.
Also stress relief is a huge one for me, nothing like sweating your troubles away!
Comment by Baggles March 2, 2009 @ 8:04 pmI never get so much school work done as when I’m freshly showered after a good workout =] It keeps me focused and feeling energized!
Comment by Kristen March 2, 2009 @ 8:06 pmI am motivated by how awesome I feel after a workout!
Comment by Meredith March 2, 2009 @ 8:07 pmWhat motivates me to work out and eat right is remembering who good I fell. I just think about how I felt after I worked out the day before.
Comment by Becca H March 2, 2009 @ 8:14 pmI am motivated by how it boosts my mood. I have been feeling very blah recently but the gym has been able to help me feel better. Same with eating food that does not make me feel gross and heavy.
Comment by Ashley Hughes March 2, 2009 @ 8:18 pmMy motivation to eat right is definitely the “food as fuel” mantra — I used to be a calorie counter, but what works better for me is thinking of the nutrients, vitamins, and food groups I am giving my body so it can work, play, and be strong and healthy!
My motivation to exercise is, as many have said, the endorphins! I feel great after I exercise — stress is decreased, positive energy is flowing, and I can’t wait to do it again the next day (and the next day…).
Thanks for the giveaway!
Comment by Erin March 2, 2009 @ 8:20 pmMy immediate and extended family has a history of a large medly of health problems. I think of exercise as preventative health care – and that always keeps me motivated.
Comment by Adelle March 2, 2009 @ 8:20 pmLike so many of the other posters, I am dedicated to staying fit, healthy, and properly nourished because of how it makes me feel. When I exercise, I feel energized. My joints feel stretched and lubricated, my muscles well-loved and used. Also, feeding myself right helps me to think, work, and enjoy life. I am in recovery from anorexia, and dealing with my healthier but heavier weight is helped by how very CAPABLE I feel, whereas before I could barely get out of bed, much less hold a job or be a present, loving wife or friend.
Comment by Betherann March 2, 2009 @ 8:22 pmThose damn endorphins are addictive! That’s what gets me out, every time. And the other big reason: I gotta admit it, every time my bf compliments my butt and figure
Gots no blog, sorry! But I saw this and have never heard of Simply Bars and they look delish!
Comment by Jennifer March 2, 2009 @ 8:24 pmI am motivated to stay fit and healthy because of how it makes me feel. I’ve let myself slide and get unhealthy, so I know how much I hate that feeling. As for exercising, the hardest part is getting out the door! I know that once I do that, I will enjoy the run (and the endorphins that follow!).
Comment by Erin March 2, 2009 @ 8:26 pmSeeing the difference between a 40-year-old who is active and one who isn’t. Exercise and a healthy lifestyle keep you young!
Comment by Chelsea March 2, 2009 @ 8:26 pmthere have been SO many mornings lately where I just want to hit the snooze and stay all warm and cozy instead of getting up for my morning treadmill workout… i think of how GREAT and REFRESHED and STRONG i feel after my workout and that usually works.
Comment by mallory March 2, 2009 @ 8:27 pmif not, i think about my almond butter + toast that i eat before working out and that always does the trick
I remind myself that it is not worth it to skip workouts or eat foods in excess that will hurt me. I want to feel SOOO much better about myself physically and mentally… I want to feel good, look good, and have good health.
Comment by Ruth M. March 2, 2009 @ 8:27 pmReminding myself of how good I feel after a run keeps me motivated. Blue sky and lots of sun helps, too!
Comment by Jenna March 2, 2009 @ 8:27 pmStanding in front of the mirror naked always helps with motivation- you can’t run away from what you see. Also, fitting consitantly in cloths that are your healthy weight size is motivation.
Comment by Natalie Rae March 2, 2009 @ 8:29 pmMy husband motivates me. I don’t work or have kids. SO I have nO excuse. I exercise for my husband and for my own health.
Comment by VeganTickles March 2, 2009 @ 8:30 pmI feel so strong and powerful after a good workout…..as though I can take on the world! Also, having a honeymoon to get into shape for is all the motivation I need!
Comment by Kerri March 2, 2009 @ 8:31 pmWhat keeps me motivated is the adrenaline rush I know I always get after a great workout!
Comment by Alyssa March 2, 2009 @ 8:35 pmThe only motivation I need is the knowledge of what happens to the human body if you don’t take care of it.
Comment by Jaclyn March 2, 2009 @ 8:40 pmThe more in shape I am, the better I can climb.
This keeps me motivated to keep exercising during the months when it’s too cold to get out on the rock and when I don’t have time/money to go to the gym and climb there.
Comment by Kelsey March 2, 2009 @ 8:40 pmWhat motivates me?
Comment by Roxana March 2, 2009 @ 8:42 pmI eat right and exercise so I can stay in recovery from my eating disorder! Nothing makes me feel better than eating well and exercising!
Also, I need to eat well and exercise because it’s one of the things that makes my constipation-IBS a little less severe! =\
I love working out because it’s my only ‘me’ time in the day. I put on my favorite playlist, hop on an elliptical, and drone out the rest of the world. It’s a necessary part of my day
Comment by Annie March 2, 2009 @ 8:43 pmI am motivated by moderately exersizing (not being a couch potato too often or overdoing it) for the after feeling- it melts away the stress after all that hard work, and I love the healing feeling after you get your heart pumping!
Comment by laci March 2, 2009 @ 8:48 pmI am motivated by my family and my future health. I have a family history of hypertension and heart disease. I will not give in to the excuse that “its genetics” and and doing the best I can to eat and run my way to better health and a prosperous future.
Comment by Ashley Suzanne March 2, 2009 @ 8:49 pmWhat motivates me = it IS the magic pill (eases my depression, instills a positive outlook, makes me feel more in touch with my body, and making me look great makes ME feel great)!
Comment by Amy March 2, 2009 @ 8:49 pmWhat motivates me is training for a half marathon and ultimately a full marathon by the end of the year!!!
Comment by Julia March 2, 2009 @ 9:01 pm“Exercising is like brushing your teeth”
Comment by J.L. March 2, 2009 @ 9:01 pmYou don’t stop brushing your teeth because u forget to do it one night, right? Remembering this quote helps me get back to exercising when I’ve missed a few sessions and feel unmotivated
Feeling good! Exercising and eating well makes me happy. Also, I have my family (3 kiddos and a great hubby) to think of and being there for them physically and emotionally is easier if I am taking good care of myself.
Comment by supermom March 2, 2009 @ 9:02 pmI am motivated by my health. I don’t want to ever be limited to what I can and cannot do because of poor eating/exercise habits. I want to live each day to the fullest.
Comment by heatherfeather March 2, 2009 @ 9:03 pmI’m training for a marathon, so that really keeps me motivated to exercise and eat right. But the major thing is probably the fact that I lost 60 pounds 2 years ago just by eating right and exercising on a regular basis. I finally hit that point where going up one flight of stairs to my dorm room was hell for me. So I decided to make some changes in my diet and lifestyle and here I am today, 60 pounds lighter with a much higher self-esteem. And my tip would be…always keep a nutrition bar (e.g. Clif Bar, luna bar, special K…) in your car so that for commuters like myself, if I get really hungry, I have a snack to tied me over to my next meal so that I don’t overindulge at my next meal or have the urge to stop for fast food.
Comment by Erin March 2, 2009 @ 9:11 pmWhat motivates me?? The prospect of wearing my pre pregnancy clothes again. I am trying.

Those bars look delish!
Comment by Amanda J Cowan March 2, 2009 @ 9:28 pmI think my best motivation is simply that I feel good when I eat a healthy (vegetarian) diet and get enough exercise. Another motivator is my dog, who needs to get out for a walk at least three times a day, no matter what the weather is like…
Comment by Nora March 2, 2009 @ 9:36 pmmy current motivation is recent weight gain. even tho i’ve been eating cleaner than ever! too much nut butter i guess
i’m really motivated by not being able to fit into my clothing and just wanting to feel lighter on my feet as i get back into running. so far its working.
oh, one more thing that helps. on the calendar, i put my total minutes of exercise and try to get up to 300 or more minutes per week. it’s a great motivator to see this.
Comment by greenbean March 2, 2009 @ 9:41 pmThe endophine and ‘feel good’ feelings I get after exercising or having a healthful meal always make me happy and to have the energy to conquer the day ahead.
Comment by Kimberly March 2, 2009 @ 9:45 pmFeeling great keeps me working out and eating right!
Not to mention looking cute for the boys
Comment by Becky March 2, 2009 @ 9:50 pmI feel soooooo much better when I exercise and eat clean foods. It is really the feeling AFTER I eat or exercise that motivates me.

Comment by Kels March 2, 2009 @ 9:51 pmStaying motivated is always a challenge, but I just try to remind myself that I get one chance to do it right, so I need the best body possible to live my life to the fullest! And I love to eat and cook, so working out is a necessity to indulge in all my favorite things!
Comment by Kori March 2, 2009 @ 9:53 pmThinking of family I’ve lost due to their poor eating habits and lack of exercise keeps me motivated each second of each day!

Comment by kate March 2, 2009 @ 11:16 pmI am motivated to work out and eat healthy by the fact that next week I am going to Puerto Rico on spring break!
Comment by jess March 2, 2009 @ 11:18 pmI love to exercise and eat healthy for so many reasons! I am a recovering anorexic and I have learned so much about eating right and exercising. I am also a graduate student so I am very busy and easily stressed with school. Knowing that I am going to get married in one year and want to have a family has motivated me to eat well and exercise regularly, also. I am trying so hard to just keep my body healthy and doing everything I can to keep me away from my old eating disorder habits. Looking at pictures of myself from the past is a great motivator for keeping on track.

Comment by runeatrepeat March 2, 2009 @ 11:42 pmHow badly I feel after I eat poorly for a while and/or don’t exercise motivates me to keep up with my exercise and healthy eating! Kind of like “you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone”!
Comment by Jessica I. March 2, 2009 @ 11:44 pmMy father having quintuple bypass surgery at 62 and seeing the horror of the gruesome surgery is what motivates me to exercise and stay fit.
Comment by Christine March 2, 2009 @ 11:51 pmI love running so having a goal, such as a race or a time goal to meet keeps me motivated to keep up with my running! Also, you have to fuel right to get the most out of your body so wanting to be the best runner I can be keeps me eating healthy, whole foods.
Comment by Taylor March 2, 2009 @ 11:56 pmWhat motivates me is the thought of people telling my husband that his wife is hot!
Comment by Elena March 2, 2009 @ 11:56 pmi think how i stay motivated is honestly by how i feel both mentally and physically. when i eat a well balanced diet w/ fruits, veggies, and whole grains AND get a great cardio/strength workout in, i feel on top of the world; however when i don’t, i dont sleep right and feel like my energy is drained… that’s good enough to get me going
Comment by Lindsay March 2, 2009 @ 11:56 pmEvery now and then if I am feeling like I’m in a rut or am retainng water weight, I will take a picture in my swimming suit. When I see the muscles in the arms and the abs, I remember that I’ve come so far and that I’m living a happy, healthy life. For me, a picture helps more than the mirror or the scale.
Comment by Paige March 3, 2009 @ 12:05 amI recently returned from a backpacking trip throughout Europe and can’t stand to look at the pictures of myself. After debating about it and finding motivation from some of my housemates, we’ve registered for a half-marathon! This week I ran eight miles! I have a physical disability which usually keeps me from trying physical things, but I’m going for it! And, I’m in two weddings this summer so I want to look buff
Comment by Holly March 3, 2009 @ 12:12 amIt’s super easy to exercise once you make it a part of your lifestyle and then, before you can even think twice about it, you’re at the gym! What also helps is buying new songs from itunes and blasting them while on the treadmill! So fun!
Comment by Megan March 3, 2009 @ 12:29 amWhat keeps motivated is simply staying heathy and happy! I love going to the gym and having fun and smiling with other people!
Comment by Jenny March 3, 2009 @ 12:31 amHonestly, I just think how good I know I’ll feel afterwards. And, if that’s not enough, I make a compromise, whatever it is (running on the treadmill, elliptical, lifting, etc.) that I can just do it for 15 minutes, and if I’m still not in to it, then I can stop. To date, I’ve only actually stopped twice in the past year and a half. Once you get going, you start feeling great and just decide to finish the workout
Sorry..I don’t have a blog to post back too
Comment by Liz March 3, 2009 @ 12:33 amWorking out gives me energy and helps channel bad energy or feelings and make it into something positive. if somedays i don’t want to go, i remind myself that no one has ever regretted going to the gym
Comment by Megan March 3, 2009 @ 12:42 am1. I have several motivations to exercise and eat right. I’m 20 years old and have been active all of my life. Now that I’m in college it’s easy to let that slip. However, I really want to be able to the same things I do today when I’m much much older. On top of that, exercising is an outlet for me, and it helps me feel balanced and refreshed. So wanting to keep that positive feeling is another big motivation for me. As for eating right, my motivation is looking forward to discovering new flavors and perhaps a new favorite dish! It also allows my creative side to come out when I want to spice things up. I love to cook and I believe eating should be a time that is relished. Using fresh foods, making things out of scratch, and allowing myself things in moderation helps me feel clean. Not to mention, it’s cheaper living this way.
Comment by Katharina March 3, 2009 @ 1:10 amWhat keeps me motivated to take care of my body…..someday in the near future I want to have kids. Not only do I want my body to be in great shape for the pregnancy, but I want to pass along healthy eating habits to my future kiddos!
Comment by Steph March 3, 2009 @ 1:12 amSigning up for a half-marathon with my best friend keeps me motivated to exercise. We’re also both passionate about good food, so it’s great to always have tips and ideas to share.
Comment by Jana March 3, 2009 @ 1:20 amWhat motivates me is I want to live to be 100! And the feeling afterwards is always amazing.
Comment by Tina March 3, 2009 @ 1:28 amGoing to the gym and hitting the street running or biking allows me to love my body. That is my number one reason to exercise and eat healthy. I feel confident and proud of my womanly curves!
Great giveaway!
Comment by Kelly March 3, 2009 @ 1:38 amI keep myself motivated by writing down every thing that goes in to my mouth and every bit of exercise I do. It keeps me honest with myself – proud of my exercise and hard work and makes me think twice before I eat something. I ask myself if I really want to have it in writing that I ate a huge handful of potato chips or those 16 marshmallows or those greasy french fries.
Comment by Jess March 3, 2009 @ 1:38 amI’m motivated because it feels good and helps improve your mood.
Comment by JW March 3, 2009 @ 1:45 amthe feeling after you’re done working out is sometimes what motivates me to get my butt up and work out!
Comment by Jaime March 3, 2009 @ 1:51 amI stay motivated to eat right and exercise because it makes me feel SO GOOD. Nothing beats the fresh worked out feeling in the morning and sitting down to a good lunch.
Comment by Caroline Y. March 3, 2009 @ 1:54 amWhat keeps me motivated? STRESS RELIEF! I’m surviving second year med school and there’s no better way to kick off my day than spinning out on the trainer or “pumping iron” at the gym. When that doesn’t work: improving my PR at the Kinetic Half Ironman in May!!
Comment by Keegan March 3, 2009 @ 2:32 amWhat motivates me is that it’s so much more stressful to be unhealthy than it is to be healthy…when I fall back into bad habits, I stress out. When I make healthy choices and exercise, I feel so much more free and less stressed!
Comment by Rachel S March 3, 2009 @ 2:47 amMy motivation is the amazing feeling you get while and after you workout and then how proud of yourself you can be when you respect your body by feeding it healthy food and giving it exercise. We were meant to be in motion! That’s why we have arms and legs!

Comment by L.L.L March 3, 2009 @ 3:52 amHanging out with friends who exercise and/or making plans to meet up with a friend for a workout always keeps me going, plus I remind myself how good I feel after a workout – that’ll usually get me to drag myself to the gym!
Comment by Diane Lewis March 3, 2009 @ 4:21 amI love eating well because I want to have children some day and I need my body to be as healthy as possible to share my love with them =)
Comment by Maddy March 3, 2009 @ 4:38 amon days i feel sluggish, i slip on my sneaks and wear them around the house for a little…usually its enough to make me want to put them to good use and hit the gym!
Comment by jo March 3, 2009 @ 4:43 amWhat motivates me…our closest family friend has been an avid hiker/outdoorsman/adventurer his whole life. He is currently battling cancer and is too sick to be outside doing the things he loves. If I feel like skipping a workout, or find myself just sitting around all day, I think of him and realize there’s even more of the world for me to explore now that I am doing it for both of us.
Comment by Melissa March 3, 2009 @ 4:49 amI linked back to this on my blog!
And I stay motivated to work out because I AM seeing results. Although they may be slow, I definitely notice myself getting stronger and increasing my endurance and that is exciting to me! Also, I am so much more productive and confident when I work out regularly! And lastly, it is the best stress reliever and I tend to stress out a lot. I KNOW I’ll feel better with a workout.
Comment by Lisa March 3, 2009 @ 4:53 amWhat keeps me motivated to work out is the feeling I get after a long goood workwout. I also do it because I know its good for my body.

Pingback by OMG…another HUGE give away « My Life and My Journey March 3, 2009 @ 10:06 amI’m 19, have run a few marathons, in am no way out of shape and eat a mostly organic diet and no white bread/excessive sugars. I’d say I
Comment by Allir March 3, 2009 @ 12:09 pmm pretty darn healthy. But I found out last week that due to genetics, I have extremely high cholesterol. So before, I just exercised to stay in shape and look nice, but now I have new motivation- to lower my cholesterol!
I find that for me it’s definitely about momentum… the more I eat right, the more I’m motivated to exercise, and the more I exercise, the more I’m motivated not to undo all that work so I eat right. Of course, it’s also a big help to go online and get motivated by reading healthy living blogs!
Comment by jen March 3, 2009 @ 12:16 pmHabits are my main thing! I just have this ingrained habits of going to the gym at certain times every day and it keeps me going quite well.

Comment by Kaley March 3, 2009 @ 1:28 pmTracking my workouts on running2win helps keep me motivated. I love going back and looking at how many miles I ran in a month or how much weight I lifted.
Comment by EL March 3, 2009 @ 1:52 pmI row for my college crew – and the thing that keeps me getting up at 6AM to join them on the river is the thrill of being part of something, of being part of a team. When I’m in the same boat as them, every scrap of pain is worth it for the feeling of things going right.
And when we win a race – that’s just the best feeling in the world!
Comment by Laura March 3, 2009 @ 2:02 pmThe love and support of my friends and family – we all want each other to be around for as long as possible!
Comment by Liz March 3, 2009 @ 2:06 pmFeeling good–mentally, emotionally, and physically–is what motivates me. I love how yoga relaxes my mind and keeps my muscles feeling strong and fluid. And long walks give me an both an energy and mood boost. Remembering how I feel after I exercise is what gets me going.
Comment by Sabe March 3, 2009 @ 2:23 pmOooh, what a fun giveaway!!! Well, I’m motivated to eat well to make me feel good. Cliche, yes, but very important to me.
Comment by Kelsey March 3, 2009 @ 2:34 pmThe reason I stay motivated to exercise and eat right is because I know that this is the only body that I will ever get. I want to take care of my body and treat it as good as I possibly can! The health implications of not taking care of myself are enough to stay motivated. I want to ensure that I will be able to get around and lead a healthy, active life–even at an advanced age.

Comment by EatingRD March 3, 2009 @ 4:08 pmI am 60 (a young 60 might I add!!), and I have only one body, so I’ve decided that in my family we are going to eat the most wholesome, nutritious, organic food that we can – I know I feel better than ever!
Comment by Grammie2Maddie March 3, 2009 @ 4:45 pmMy friends and I are training for a half-marathon in May. It’s easier to get motivated for the long-distance runs when it’s more of a social event!
Comment by Kate March 3, 2009 @ 4:46 pmI love the self-esteem boost that I get after I work out, even though it means being at the gym at 5 AM because of my work schedule. My day starts out on a positive note and I feel great knowing that I’ve already done something good for my health. Right now I’m working on strengthening my legs and I feel proud of myself because I can already feel the difference three weeks in.
Comment by Rocio March 3, 2009 @ 5:00 pmhaving the energy to live my life to its fullest and to pass my knowledge along to others – that’s what motivates me the most. and well, that cute pair of jeans that make my butt look oh so good…those might have a little something to do with my motivation, too.
Comment by staci March 3, 2009 @ 5:02 pmEating whole fruits and vegetables makes me feel so healthy and pure – that keeps me motivated to continue eating healthy! I am also a nursing student and I want to practice what I preach!
Comment by Steph March 3, 2009 @ 5:04 pmWhat keeps me motivated is knowing that if I don’t eat healthy and keep moving that my high cholesterol will take effect and I will end up like my father and have triple bypass and my two daughters deserve to have their mom around for a very long time to teach them how to eat and keep moving. My youngest has a hard time with her weight and I just had her join the gym with me teaching her about healthy eating. I didn’t have that, my dad grew up on a farm eating whole milk, lard, eggs by the dozen, etc. This disease will not continue in my family. IT STOPS HERE!!!
Comment by Victoria March 3, 2009 @ 5:27 pmI think I’ve heard that putting a mirror on your fridge helps you diet or stop snacking when you’re not hungry. Thanks so much for the contest. I’m posting details with a link back as I type.
Comment by Kelly March 3, 2009 @ 5:31 pmKnowing that I am keeping myself healthy is my biggest motivator. I’m also trying to get pregnant so I want to be in the best shape possible.
Plus those skinny jeans in the back of the closet help too!
Comment by Jennefur March 3, 2009 @ 7:09 pmWhat keeps me motivated is the story of Joseph Pilates. I do Pilates every day which strengthens my body completely and gives me CONTROL over it in so many ways that other forms of exercise just can’t do! What motivates me to eat right is my focus as far as my future career goes. I am in college majoring in Nutrition because I have always wanted to be a dietitian since I was a little girl (which is probably not something you’d expect to hear from a 4 year old when asked what they want to be a grown up)! The benefits of eating healthy and getting all the necessary nutrients and such and how that affects the risks of diseases related to eating habits is more than enough to give me that little push to stay healthy!
Comment by Laurie March 3, 2009 @ 7:09 pmI play team sports, so knowing that I’m training to perform better pushes me.
Comment by Loey March 3, 2009 @ 7:18 pmI am motivated to exercise because it makes me feel good x hardcore!
Comment by Kathleen March 3, 2009 @ 8:23 pmI’m motivated by the awesome feeling I know I will have after a great workout!
Comment by Sweetie Pie March 3, 2009 @ 8:53 pmWell, having a history of cancer in my family helps the motivation factor a lot. Also just by the way I feel, and going on a yearly or twice-yearly tropical vaca with my husband helps.
Comment by Deanna Z March 3, 2009 @ 9:15 pmI stay motivated because once I started eating right and paying attention to what I ate, I felt better than I’ve ever felt in my life!
Comment by Allie March 3, 2009 @ 9:53 pmI could write paragraphs on the awesomeness of working out and eating right!! I reallly feel sorry for the large part of the population that have yet to understand this fact. The two go hand in hand and encompass ones life both current and future, not only physically but mentally and emotionally.
Comment by Laura T March 3, 2009 @ 10:06 pmWorking out makes me feel sexy! That’s motivation enough for me.
Comment by Hänni March 3, 2009 @ 10:09 pmYay bars! My motivation definitely comes from remembering how much better I feel mentally when I take care of my body through exercise and healthy eats. Its also nice when your clothes fit
Comment by Sar March 3, 2009 @ 11:40 pmMy motivation comes from knowing that I am being healthy instead of eating well… junk. It makes me feel so much better!
Comment by Nina March 4, 2009 @ 12:43 amWhat motivates me: is knowing that I am doing something good for myself and my family. They enjoy the food that is not only good for them but the time we spend together preparing it. In addition, we exercise as a family making it well spent time together.
Comment by Shiva March 4, 2009 @ 1:14 amHi all! I hope everybody is having a great day!
What motivates me is that the best way to share something great in the world is to lead by example. So, when I wake up in the morning and break a sweat I hope that the world sees that in moderation, exercise is one of the greatest keys to health and happiness. I hope others see this and follow along- it’s a beautiful scene when the gym is packed and the mirrors are sweating too!
Comment by Dee March 4, 2009 @ 1:17 amI have to be honest and say that what motivates me is screwing up on my healthy eating diet. I’m just not at the point where it’s automatic. It’s a cycle and I’m getting closer, though. I’m trying to allow the bad days to motivate the good.

Comment by Gina March 4, 2009 @ 5:16 pmMy dogs motivate me to get moving…we run/walk everyday and I work full time, so me being tired, it being too cold, etc etc are not excuses because THEY need to get outside no matter what type of day I have had! My passion for cooking motivates me to eat right. I love taking recipes and tweaking them to make them healthy and delicious! And, of course, sharing the food I make with my family and friends and helping them eat well along with me.
